Paul Eckbo,
Chairman
Paul Eckbo is the founder and Chairman of the Marsoft Group. His focus includes fundamental analysis of oil, energy and shipping markets and providing timing and portfolio advice to owners, charterers and investors, shipping and offshore related, real and financial assets and securities. Dr. Eckbo has held senior positions in academia and business and has been extensively involved in global business ventures with responsibility for business development, strategy and corporate finance.
Dr. Eckbo has a B.A. from the Norwegian School of Economics (Bergen) and a Ph.D. in Management from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
Arlie Sterling,
President
Arlie Sterling is President and co-founder of Marsoft Incorporated and serves on the board of the Blue Sky Maritime Coalition. The Blue Sky Maritime Coalition is dedicated to accelerating the pace of decarbonization of the North American maritime industry. Arlie was elected as a Member of the American Bureau of Shipping in 2022.
Sterling has lectured at the university level on the dynamics of the shipping markets and investment and chartering decisions under uncertainty. He advises shipowners, investors and financial institutions regarding the development and execution of effective investment, chartering and risk management strategies.
Recently, he has led the development of Marsoft’s carbon market practice, including a collaboration with the MIT SeaGrant Design Laboratory to create models of vessel performance and the impact of retrofit investments in terms of reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. He leads Marsoft’s work with carbon registries and with market-makers in the carbon space.
Sterling has an S.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.S. from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics (concentration in finance and macroeconomics) from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Hauke Kite-Powell
Sr Vice President, Managing Decarbonization
Hauke L. Kite-Powell is Senior Analyst for liquid gas shipping at Marsoft, focusing on the LNG and LPG tanker markets and trades.
He holds degrees in naval architecture (B.S), technology and policy (M.S.), and ocean systems management (M.S. and Ph.D.) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Kite-Powell also holds appointments as Research Specialist at the Marine Policy Center of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Lecturer at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
John Moulopoulos,
Vice President, Finance and Business Development
John Moulopoulos is Vice President, Finance and Business Development and joined Marsoft in 2021. His professional background includes investment banking and financial advisory work, advisory to shipping investments and ship manning services, as well as securities trading. He hails from a long standing Hellenic shipping family focused on the drybulk and tanker segments.
Mr Moulopoulos holds a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, both from the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor.
Belinda Adye,
Partner
Belinda Adye is a partner and joined Marsoft Inc. in 1990. She is responsible for sales in Europe and is the head of Marsoft’s London office.
Mrs. Adye has a BA Hons in French and Italian from University College London. Prior to working at Marsoft, Mrs. Adye had experience in teaching, PR and theatre.
Costas S Bardjis,
Partner
Costas Bardjis is a partner and joined Marsoft Inc. in 1986. He has directed numerous projects at Marsoft, with his most recent focus on the liner and containership markets and credit rating.
He holds a diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering form the National Technical University of Athens, a M.S. in Ocean Systems Management from MIT, and has completed his studies for a Ph.D. in Corporate Strategy and Shipping Economics in the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
Kevin Hazel,
Partner
Kevin Hazel is a Marsoft Inc. partner and joined Marsoft in 1989. Prior to joining Marsoft, Mr. Hazel was an investment analyst in the financial services industry.
Mr. Hazel has an S.B. in Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and an M.A. in Economics from Boston University.
Nikolay Koumpikov, Head of Software and Product Development
Nikolay Koumpikov leads Marsoft's Software and Product Development. He also oversees IT security compliance and governance. He joined Marsoft in 2003, following a career as a Navigating Officer on bulkers, containerships, and multi-purpose ships.
Mr. Koumpikov holds a Master's in Electrical Engineering and Maritime Navigation from the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Bulgaria, and a Master's in Information Technology from Harvard University.
Ryan Uljua, CAIA,
Project Lead, Markets & Systems
Ryan Uljua is Project Lead for Markets & Systems and joined Marsoft in 2024. Before joining Marsoft, he was an investment analyst at a Boston-based quantitative hedge fund where he developed systematic commodities trading models leveraging maritime shipping data. Prior, he began his career in intelligence and geopolitical risk consulting.
Mr. Uljua holds a Master’s degree in International Trade and Global Political Economy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from George Washington University. He also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.
Diane Beauregard,
Controller
Diane Beauregard joined Marsoft in 2021 and is responsible for Administration, Finance and Human Resources. She has 30+ years’ experience in the high-tech industry, with a focus in software and services, and has held positions as Revenue Manager, Internal Auditor and Group Controller. Prior to joining Marsoft, Ms. Beauregard was the Director of Accounting/Finance and Human Resources for CST of America. She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Boston University.
